  Do Carry Rain Gear
  Do Wear Proper Footwear (DON’T wear flip flops or sandals)
  Don’t Carry your Pet (Pets are not allowed on or off a leash on any of the trails within the National Park)
  Don’t Carry a Bicycle or Motorized Vehicle (These are not allowed on any trail.)
  DO STAY ON THE TRAIL. DO NOT LEAVE MARKED TRAILS.

E BEAR AWARE!

Part of the lure of Gatlinburg is all of its natural wonders, the Great Smoky Mountains and the varied wildlife abundant in the area. In an effort to ensure your safety, please read the following reminders:

–Black bears are prevalent in the area and often seen within the area and often seen within the city of Gatlinburg.

–These are not tame animals and should be considered dangerous to humans.

–Never approach or attempt to feed the animals.

–Keep children close at hand.

–Pictures must be taken from a safe distance. If the bear changes its natural behavior due to your presence, YOU ARE TOO CLOSE!

 

  For more information on hiking, please stop at “The Happy Hiker” in the plaza behind The Burning Bush Restaurant - light #10 bordering The National Park. There you will find maps, books, boots, clothing, water bottles, etc. to help you enjoy your hiking experience.
