What to Do during a Gatlinburg 4th of July
Nothing screams the 4th of July more than a parade. Gatlinburg takes things up a notch by hosting the first Independence Day parade in the country. The parade starts at 12:01 a.m. on July 4th at the Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway. Participants work their way downtown for over a mile.
After the parade, make your way back to our Gatlinburg hotel for a nap before setting off for more festive fun. Head to the former Christ in the Smokies Museum to register and decorate your unmanned float as part of the River Raft Regatta. The race along the Little Pigeon River ends when all the floatables cross the finish line, found at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.
The festivities wrap up with a spectacular fireworks display over the Space Needle. Enjoy the show from some of the best seats in the house by purchasing tickets to watch them from Gatlinburg Skypark. Tickets go on sale about a month before the event and allow you to watch the display from the VIP viewing area at the top of the mountain.
