What to Know about the Trolley
What started with six trolleys in 1980 has grown to over 20 vehicles that service Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas. Operating on a daily basis, Gatlinburg Trolleys are a way for visitors and residents to get around town for free. This mode of transportation runs every day of the year, but hours can vary depending on the route and special events. Hours of operation can also change depending on the time of year.
The system serves three routes. The Red Route starts at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. Our hotel is found on this route, and the trolley actually picks up and drops off at our front door!
The Purple Route includes the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, while the final route, the Blue Route, serves East Gatlinburg. The aquarium serves as the central hub and allows riders to change routes to reach their final destination. You can pick up a map from the Gatlinburg Welcome Center or download one that shows all the stops found along each path. You can also pick a map up from the front desk.
