While you can take in the views from your private balcony, there’s nothing better than lacing up your hiking boots and spending a day hiking the best trails in Gatlinburg.

The Top 5 Gatlinburg Hiking Trails

With the Great Smoky Mountains National Park only a short drive away from our hotel, there is no shortage of unique and beautiful hiking trails. Enjoy a quick adventure or spend all day immersing yourself in nature on one of the area trails.

  1. If you’re looking for a challenging hike, the 10.9-mile Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte should be on your itinerary. While this trail is rated difficult, the views and well-maintained trails make it a great option if you want to see and experience the best of the Smoky Mountains.
  2. Hike the 2.4 mile Laurel Falls Trail to view one of the most popular spots in the park: Laurel Falls. This area can be busy, so plan to visit early to enjoy a peaceful hike.
  3. Enjoy views along the way as you hike the 4.5-mile Alum Cave Bluff Trail to Peregrine Peak. The hike will take you through a forest filled with flowers, log bridges, and plenty of photo opportunity spots.
  4. Hike a trail filled with wildflowers to an old log cabin school. The Metcalf Bottoms Trail is an easy 1.5-mile trail that’ll take you to the Little Greenbrier School and is an ideal option if you are hiking with children.
  5. The Charlies Bunion via Appalachian Trail will take you along the summit of the Smoky Mountains. During your 8-mile hike, stop and take in the views on the multiple peaks you pass, including Mount Kephart, Masa Knob, and Mount Ambler.

Whichever hike you embark on, be sure to bring your camera to capture the views and memories along the way.
