Where to Enjoy the Best Views in Gatlinburg
One of the most popular overlooks near our downtown Gatlinburg hotel is the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook. Found on the Gatlinburg Bypass running from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the Gatlinburg Spur, this overlook offers picturesque views from four parking areas. Be sure to bring your camera with you as this is one of the most photographed places in Gatlinburg for a reason.
Once you’ve checked this overlook off your list, visit:
- Chimney Tops Overlook: Hike the 3.6-mile out and back trail located in the national park. At the top of the trail, which is well marked and maintained, take in the views from the observation platform of the Smoky Mountains.
- Morton’s Overlook: Found along US 441 and Newfound Gap Road, enjoy views of Tennessee and North Carolina. This overlook is over 5,000 feet above sea level, so the views stretch on forever.
- Clingmans Dome: At over 6,000 feet, this is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While not a traditional overlook, the observation tower provides 360-degree views that can expand over 100 miles on a clear day.
- Carlos Campbell Overlook: This is one of the first scenic vantage points you will enjoy after arriving in the park. Just a short distance away from the Sugarlands Visitor Center, see the peaks of Mount LeConte as it slopes toward Gatlinburg.
Besides scenic overlooks, another great way to take in the views is the Space Needle. This 407-foot observation tower overlooks the Smoky Mountains and downtown Gatlinburg. You may even be able to pick out The Park Vista as you ride the glass elevator to the top.
